A darkness retreat is a supported experience in complete darkness designed to reduce external sensory input and support deep rest, inner awareness, and nervous system regulation. Participants stay in a darkened space for an extended period of time while receiving structured support, nourishment, and daily check-ins.

During a darkness retreat, participants spend most of their time resting, sleeping, meditating, and observing their inner experience without visual stimulation. At Deeper Current Coaching, the retreat includes private accommodations, prepared meals delivered to the space, and regular facilitator check-ins to ensure safety and support throughout the process.

We conduct a screening process prior to acceptance and provide daily check-ins, clear orientation, and integration support. Darkness retreats are not recommended for individuals with certain mental health conditions, and safety is always prioritized over intensity or duration.

Darkness retreats can range from a few days to longer extended stays. Deeper Current Coaching offers retreats of 4 days but may for certain individuals offer varying lengths depending on readiness, intention, and prior experience. The appropriate length is determined through an application and screening process.

Many participants report benefits such as deep physical rest, nervous system reset, emotional processing, increased clarity, enhanced intuition, and a renewed sense of connection. Each experience is unique, and outcomes vary depending on the individual and the length of retreat.

You will be in solitude within your darkened space, but you are not unsupported. Facilitators are available throughout the retreat, and regular check-ins are part of the container. Support is accessible if needed.

Preparation may include reducing stimulation before the retreat, adjusting diet, minimizing media consumption, and setting clear intentions. After acceptance, participants receive detailed preparation guidelines to support a smooth transition into darkness.


Darkness retreats are not medical or psychological treatment and do not replace therapy or healthcare. They are experiential retreats intended for self-exploration, rest, and inner inquiry. Participants are encouraged to consult with healthcare providers if they have concerns.
